Soutrali Beach

Soutrali beach.

Location

Mangnesia, near Volos, right after Agria town. At the eastern end of Pelion peninsula.

Beach Name

Soutrali

Overall Rating

0=will not return to this beach. Somehow this beach failed to win our hearts during our visit. Hopefully other bathers had a better swimming experience.

Beach

LP=Large pebbles

Sea Floor

LP=Large pebbles

Water

1= The sea water was not very inviting at the time we visited. We did more sunbathing than swimming

(These are my, and my family's own unscientific observations of the water feel and appearance)
We enjoy the water when it is crystal clear, and cool instead of warm. We don' like visible floating particles of any kind or algae settled on the beach.

Clothing

Topless sunbathing is not common

Access

Good=paved road all the way to the beach, parking near the beach

Amenities

T=town within walking distance

RV / Camper Accessibility

P= RV Room for Parking

Snorkeling

N=does not look promising, I did not dive

Notes

This is the closest beach to the town of Volos, and it seems to be a pattern in Greece where the closest beach to a major town is usually not very good.

Soutrali is not really a beach and it would not be appearing in the GreekLandscapes.com guide, except that it is marked as a beach on most maps and its proximity to Volos might entice someone to visit it.

If you are looking for a swim spot near Volos, drive about ten minutes southeast to the Kato Gatzea beach. Better yet, If you have the opportunity, drive the two hours through beautiful Mt. Pelion to either Milopotamos beach, or Papa Nero near Ag. Ioannis.
