Location
Eastern Crete, in Lasithi
Beach Name
Sitia (the beach in the town of Sitia)
My Rating Overall
2 = good beach, could go for swimming
again if we happened to be in the area
Beach
Small pebbles
Sea Floor
Small pebbles
Water
2 = nice sea, we had a nice swim but we did not notice anything
special about the water
(These are just my own unscientific observation of the water feel
and appearance)
My family and I enjoy the water when it is crystal clear, and cool
instead of warm. We don' like visible floating particles
of any kind
or algae settled
on the beach.
Clothing
Topless sunbathing is not common
Access
Good = paved road all the way to the beach, parking near
the beach
Amenities
Town within walking distance
Organized beach with sun beds, umbrellas (for a fee) and showers.
RV / Camper Accessibility
Site
is unsuitable for RV parking (no room for campers near the site)
There are some flat areas near the east end of the beach where
campers can park
Snorkeling
N = does not look promising, I did not dive
Notes
Sitia is a nice town and the beach is within walking distance.
It is very long and it only gets crowded near the harbor. With
a car or moped, you can drive 25 minutes to the east coast of Crete
where you will find some of the best beaches in Greece (choose
from the menu on the left column for more details on beaches of
Crete).
The north coast beyond Sitia and until you reach the east coast
has no beaches worth mentioning. Locals youths also prefer to swim
at the salt water pools at the SOE development which are very large.
