Petani, on the west coast of the Lixouri peninsula of Kefalonia, Greece.

My Rating Overall

2=good beach, could go for swimming again if we happened to be in the area, though it would not be our first choice.

4= Sea water was excellent and inviting for swimming. We would go out of our way to swim there again

(These are just my own unscientific observation of the water feel and appearance)
My family and I enjoy the water when it is crystal clear, and cool instead of warm. We don' like visible floating particles of any kind or algae settled on the beach.

Clothing

Topless sunbathing is not common

Good=paved road all the way to the beach, parking near the beach

Notes

We drove to Petani beach because we read in several guides that it is even better than Myrtos beach. On the map it looks like an out of the way place, so we envisioned a beach as good as Myrtos but with less people.

We were disapointed to find that Petani is much smaller, and a much more crowded beach.

Comments As I have traveled the world many times over, being a pilot, I found this beacht to be one of my top 3 places I have been able to experience. There is a wonderful taverna named Souras where one can get a great meal and really enjoy the best that nature has to offer.
