Access:
Good = Paved road all the way to the beach. Parking near the beach.

The road to the beach is steep but not too difficult. Parking after 11:00 AM can be hard to find close to the beach, so most cars park up the road.

Organized Beach (trash collection, umbrellas, showers etc.)
RV / Camper Accessibility:
Site suitable for parking for the day, but not for camping. Although there are signs forbidding campers from using the road down to the beach, I saw many RVs parked by the beach.

Notes:
Myrtos beach is featured in our top ten beaches of Greece, and it was voted as the number one by the public the last few years in the internet survey contacted by thalassa.gr. Obviously a poll like this would be biased towards the most frequented beaches, but from our on-site visit we found Myrtos to be well worth the accolades and fame.

The waves really pick-up in the afternoon so swimming can become dangerous at this time since the beach slopes abruptly as soon as you enter the water (not very good for small children).

The steep cliffs that frame the beach make it one of the most picturesque in Greece, but beware of fallen rocks. During our visit we saw an avalanche of boulders that fell sending sunbathers scrambling for cover. Myrtos is a very wide beach however and the rocks would never reach the part of the beach where most people sunbathe. You should be careful though if you set your umbrella near the back cliff.

Comments The beach is one of the best beaches on the island although water near the shore can get slightly dirty if there's a lot of people on the beach and this does happen very often. Platiamos beach (on Lixouri peninsula ) is just as nice if not even better but you have to walk down 335 steps to get to it and of course back up.
My husband and I spent two days there and the first time there was only about 10 people there and the second time we had whole beach for ourselves . Unforgetable!!!

Comments The most beautiful and fantastic beach i have ever laid my eyes on. We spent the entire day there and would return to the island just to visit the beach again!!!

Comments I am Greek and have been many times there. All islands in the Ionian sea (this is the name of sea at that part of Greece) have great beaches for swimming. The water there (according to scientific measuraments) are the cleanes in all the Mediterranean sea.

Comments Perfect in everything except for one major fact on our part was the loud pop music playing which to us ruined the peace & quiet that this beach can offer.

Comments	we visited this beach in 2004. We are from Australia. Superb day to be had by all. The water was magnificent and crystal clear. Collected a lot of pebbles and brought them back to Australia. Unforgettable.

Comments	Its been 2 years since i visited this amazing beach, but i still remember its beauty. It's a definite must see and if you want to really be amazed go there at sunset after the crowds leave. The experience is breathtaking!

Comments	I was there in April 2004. The beach was almost empty and without facilities to eat or drink. The view since the top is marvelous. The water is totally transparent but very cold. I think is one of the best beach of the world

Comments	visited mylos beach in 1989 and found its solitude perfect, even in the height of summer there were no more than 10 on the beach at any one time. very sad to read a hotel has been built there, places like this should be left to nature and the few people who make the effort to climb over the hill to get there.

Comments	Most beautiful beach i have seen,came in 2005 and back again this year! myrtos is just perfect!

5 = the sea water was some the best for swimming. We would go way out of our way to swim there again
4 = sea water was excellent and inviting for swimming. We would go out of our way to swim there again
3 = very nice and clean sea. We would go swimming there again if we were in the area
2 = nice sea, we had a nice swim but we did not notice anything special about the water
1 = the sea water was not very inviting at the time we visited. We did more sunbathing than swimming
0 = the water did not seem suitable for swimming

Note that these are our simple (and unscientific) observations based on our subjective experience during our visit. We enjoy the water when it is crystal clear, and cool instead of warm. We don' like visible floating particles of any kind or algae settled on the beach.
