5 = Superb! Best we visited. Worth going far out of our way to swim there again
4 = Very good. We
would go out of our way to swim there again
3 = Good. We
would choose it for swimming among other beaches if we were in the
area
2 = Average. We
could go for swimming again if we happened to be in the area
1 = Just OK. The beach was fine for swimming and sunbathing one time
0 = Disappointing. We will not return to this beach

based on our subjective experience during our visit

I was there with the family the first week of July 2009. Mirtidiotisa was a disappointment. I met 2 more families that came down the hill with us and then after looking around turned back and left. The beach is clean, but very narrow. It does fit the definition of a beach. Also my recomendation is for adults and nudists not families. There are way better choices in Corfu. Try the beach south of Benitses or try Glifada, which is crowded but for a good reason... N.A.

Rating: 5 = Superb (Best we visited. Worth going far out of our way to swim there again)
Beach: Sand
Sea Floor: Sand
Water: 5/5
Clothing: Organized nudist beach
Access: Poor = Accessible by car, poor road, long walk or climb
Restaurant: Yes
Cantina: yes
Organized: yes
Snorkeling: Sandy sea floor
Comments: Mirtiotissa beach remains one of the most beautiful beaches of Corfu.
Improvements on access the last years, difficult sections were covered with concrete in 2006, allows easier approach but always is preferable to avoid hard times and I suggest to park your cars about 100m before the beach at Elia restaurant.
The last years the size of the beach is reduced and unfortunately this continues for summer 2009.

BEACH LOCATION Corfu
BEACH NAME Myrtidiotissa
YEAR LAST VISITED 2005-2010
RATING 5 = Superb (Best we visited. Worth going far out of our
way
to swim there again)
BEACH Sand
SEA FLOOR Large Pebbles
WATER 4/5
CLOTHING Organized nudist beach
ACCESS Poor = Accessible by car, poor road, long walk or climb
CANTINA yes
RV, CAMPER ACCESSIBILITY Site suitable for parking for the day,
but
not for camping
SNORKELING Good snorkeling site
COMMENTS The most relaxed nudist beach I had ever been to. Great
snorkelling in clean water. There is less of a beach than there
used
to be a few years ago. The water that comes down from the hill has
dwindled a lot. If anyone goes there say hi to the gorgeous Stella
who sells jewellry there from Diana.

| Comments | A beautiful beach with a complete cross section of naturists both young and old. Can become crowded but is always worth the effort of getting there - very steep semi made up road which takes about ten minutes to go down to the beach and about 25 minutes to go back up! There is a good cantina near the bottom of the hill which serves very welcome cold drinks and a range of light meals/snacks. There is an excellent snack bar on the beach from which you can also hire sun beds. Definitely one of life's most rewarding experiences! |
Now living in Canada, I can confirm my favourite beach is Myrtiotissa. Having been there in the 70's a couple of times. It is where I would like my ashes to be scattered.
The beach is one of the most wonderful places I have seen in my journeys thru many countries, as I am now approaching 57 yrs. of age.
Please go visit while you can. -- Susie, 2007
Just spent our 7th year going to mirtiotissa beach and as ever a simply stunning place. Ami and Spiros alternating with a greek/german couple are still manning the beach sandwich bar. The beach has returned to the size it was in previous years. The food was great and 40+ degrees of sunshine ensured an all over tan if required or white bits if you're shy. Too many cars and bikes now take advantage of the newly concreted road down when they should park for free at the wonderful elia bar complex at the top of the very steep " hill. -- Steve & Anna, 2007
5 = the sea water was some the best for swimming. We would go way out of our
way to swim there again
4 =
sea water was excellent and inviting for swimming. We would
go out
of
our way to swim there again
3 = very nice and clean sea. We would go swimming there again
if we were in the area
2 = nice sea, we had a nice swim but we did not notice
anything special about the water
1 = the sea water was not very inviting at the time
we visited. We did more sunbathing than swimming
0 = the water did not seem suitable for swimming
Note that these are our simple (and unscientific) observations
based on our subjective experience during our visit. We enjoy the water when it is crystal clear, and cool instead of warm. We don' like visible floating particles of any kind or algae settled on the beach.
