LocationThesprotia, Epiros (near Igoumenitsa and Parga) Beach NameKaravostasi My Rating Overall4=very good beach, would go out our way to swim there again BeachS=sand Sea FloorS=sand Water3=very nice and clean sea. We would go swimming there again if we were in the area (just my own unscientific observation of the water feel and appearance) ClothingTopless sunbathing is common AccessGood=paved road all the way to the beach, parking near the beach AmenitiesR=restaurant (on the beach)
RV / Camper AccessibilityO= Site suitable for free camping. Ample space for parking on the beach vicinity. SnorkelingP=looks promising but I did not dive The rocks at the South end of the beach are offered for snorkeling, but the waves were a bit too high during my visit so I did not dive. NotesThe Hotel at the north end of the beach dominates the hill with its "eye-sore" design and the fancy little wagon that takes bathers up and down the hill. It also dominates the north end of the beach with several floating contraptions offered for sports and games. The most annoying aspect of the hotel though is its PA system that comes live every so often with announcements that can be heard all the way to the other end of the beach, and even up on the hill at the South end. This hill on the South end of the beach is host to an interesting
archaeological site. There are signs at the beach pointing to it,
but they signs later on have been knocked down. To find it, follow
the signs from the beach, and after the first left into the gravel
road, take the first right up the hill. It does not look like much
of a road, but this is the one to climb up to the archaeological
site (you will also notice the standing polls that once held the
signs pointing to the right.

I stayed at Karavostasi Beach for a few weeks with friends in 1993. We had a fantastic time enjoying the beautiful warm sea and the fun hospitality at 'Tommy's Bar' - I would recommend all travellers to take the time to visit this beach. --Louise P.
