  • Beach berm:
Sand, Shingle, Large Pebbles, Large Cobles, Rock
  • Seafloor:
Sand, Shingle, Large Pebbles, Small Pebbles, Rock
  • Water rating: 5/5 about
  • Access:
Poor = Accessible by car, poor road, plus a long walk or climb

Driving to Egremni takes you through a very narrow and steep road. At some point you reach the end of driving, which is really a spot where the mountain has been bulldozed by someone to make a parking lot or two. You can park on the side of the road right before the parking lot for free, but this means another two hundred meters uphill when you are leaving the beach. Once you park, to reach the beach you have to climb down a few hundred makeshift steps and at the end you have to balance on a *very* shaky wooden structure (pictured here). Amazingly enough there is a cantina before you reach the bottom, and another one at the beach so you can buy some water for the journey. You will definitely need some water before you head up to your car at the end of the day.
  • Amenities:
    Cantina at the beach
NONE, bring your own drinking water and food
  • RV / Camper Accessibility:
Site is unsuitable for RV parking. See "Access" above. It should not be too difficult to drive down towards the parking lot, and there should be enough space to turn around at the end of the day.
  • Snorkeling:
    Sandy sea floor
  • Notes:
One of the best beaches in Greece! It is so hard to access that it is never crowded, although it is so long that it would take thousands of people to make it feel crowded. Right at the bottom of the steps is the little make-shift bar, and a bunch of sun beds and umbrellas for rent. Further south the beach is deserted and bathers are spaced hundreds of meters apart. The way up the thousand steps is a major deterrent, but if you don't like crowds, it is definitely a better beach than the nearby Porto Katsiki.

Comments This is the best beach in the world. I have visited this beach many times and would go there every time. It is a long and at times dangerous treck down the 325 steps (yes I counted them!!). The last few stairs are the dangerous ones as they are wooden and get slippery when very sandy. I remember this beach when no steps existed and one would have to follow the goat track down to the beach. In the old days it was a nudist beach due to its poor access. This beach is the greatest experience and it is worth the long walk and 325 steps. lefkada is my home island and although I have been to Egremni many times, every time feels like the first. :)

Comments best beach EVER seen. I would travel around the world to see it again. Also the most difficult beach to be reached....but it was worth of.

Comments I Loved Egremni Beach. I have been to many beaches in Greece, and more country's but this was the best. i tried snorkeling, but you cant see too well under water, not sure why, salt maybe, it was verry salty. I reccomend this beach to everyone that goes to Greece.

    Attila (2007)

The reason why you cant see Egremnis bottom (same Porto Katsiki) is that
theres microscopic white sand spread in the water, that gives it a
milky effect (turquoise colour of course) when no waves the bottom is
perfectly visible as very clean water.
Its my favourire one as well
